Care & Use

How to Care for a Kyocera Ceramic Fry Pan Instructions: Use only wooden, silicone, plastic or nylon cooking utensils on ceramic cookware. Metal utensils can scratch and leave marks on the cookware. Store a ceramic fry pan separately from other cookware, especially other ceramic. Don’t stack other cookware in your ceramic fry pan. Direct ceramic-to-ceramic contact can cause damage to the fry pan. Other types of cookware stacked in the pan can also cause scratches. Wash the fry pan in warm water before the first use. Towel dry it well, then condition the pan by rubbing the surface with a paper towel moistened in cooking oil. Rub a clean paper towel over the ceramic to remove excess oil. Lightly coat the inside surface of the ceramic fry pan with oil before you start cooking. Do this each time you cook with the pan, unless the food is high in fat content, which will coat the pan itself. Applying oil will help to avoid dry burning the ceramic. Cook with low or medium heat in your ceramic fry pan. Ceramic cookware heats evenly and retains heat well, so medium or low heat is all that's needed. Using high heat causes foods to stick to the pan, which can discolor or damage the surface. Rinse the fry pan in warm water promptly after cooking to remove excess food and grease. Avoid letting it sit on the hot stovetop, which can damage the pan. Never put an empty ceramic fry pan on a hot burner, or the cookware can be ruined. Clean your ceramic fry pan with warm water and a soft sponge or dish cloth. Dish soap isn’t necessary except in the case for stubborn stains. Soak the pan in hot water for 30 minutes before washing, if burnt food is caked on the pan. Avoid using any abrasive cleaning products or pads on the fry pan. Rinse and dry the fry pan thoroughly before storing.
